DESCRIPTION OF COMPANY

Founded in 1950, O.S. has introduced the most used tests in the world to Italy, translating and adapting leading instruments from the USA, Europe and Australia. Thanks to O.S.'s activity, the company has positively influenced the Italian academic world in developing original Italian psychological instruments, and, today, it cooperates with major Italian universities and researchers in the field of applied psychology.

O.S. presently has 23 full time employees and the control of a small printing plant ("Rotoffset") together with a consulting firm ("O.S. Consulting"), which is able, thanks to an extended network of professionals and university professors, to offer services in industrial and organisational psychology to Human Resources Departments. It is part of an important Italian publishing group ("Giunti Gruppo Editoriale"), that also controls a large printing plant and is involved not only in traditional publishing activity but also in developing new technologies in the fields of teaching and communications (eg. by multi-media tools).

MAIN AREAS OF BUSINESS

O.S. is the leading publisher and developer of original Italian tests. Some of the more important instruments developed in recent years are: BFQ - Big Five Questionnaire, the first European test founded on the Five Factors Model; BFO - Big Five Observer; CBA - Cognitive Behaviour Assessment; Token Test; QUID - Pain Italian Questionnaire; MODA - Milan Overall Dementia Assessment; TPL - First Language Test (1 to 3 years); MOT-R - Test for Assessing Motivation in Learning and Reading; PCR - Referential Communication Test.

O.S. traditional activity concerns the following fields (only a few of the company's main titles are reported here, the O.S. catalogue includes over 300 instruments!):

• Test development and publishing in the clinical area (Italian version of foreign tests: MMPI and MMPI-2, SCID-Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-III-R, CPI, STAI, Wechsler Scales, AAT-Aachener Aphasie Test, Rorschach Test, TAT, PFS).
• Test development and publishing in the occupational area (Italian versions: 16PF, ACL, MBTI, GPP, GZTS, DAT, Cattel Culture Fair Tests, Raven Tests).
• Test developmental and publishing in the educational area (Prove MT, Prove Oggettive di Matematica).
• Journals publishing: BPA - Bollettino di Psicologia Applicata (quarterly journal published since 1954) and Risorse Umane in Azienda Newsletter (bimonthly journal published since 1990).
• Tailor-made test development for personnel selections.
• Test development on computers.
• Training programs: Master in organizational psychology addressed to human resources managers; occupational psychology short seminars; test use courses addressed to psychologists and other qualified users.
