Assessio Sverige AB - quality and ethics in psychological testing

For almost 50 years, Assessio Sverige AB has been Sweden's leading publisher of psychological tests and methods. The main purpose of our company is to supply Swedish psychologists, health care workers, human resource professionals and special needs teachers with instruments relating to all aspects of work, education and research. Assessio Sverige AB supports the International Test Commission and the Swedish foundation Stiftelsen för Tillämpad Psykologi, in their development of standards for quality and ethics in psychological tests and psychological testing. Assessio Sverige AB is the Swedish member of the European Test Publishers Group, which means that we are committed to the highest ethical and professional standards.

MAIN AREAS OF BUSINESS

Clinical psychology

We supply diagnostic tools for psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, speech therapists and physiotherapists. At Assessio Sverige AB you can find Swedish versions of classical diagnostic tools such as the Wechsler scales, MMPI-2, Luria Neuropsychological Battery, Rey Complex Figure Test and Recognition Trial, NEPSY, Beck Depression Inventory, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, Movement ABC and many more.

Together with Swedish researchers and practitioners Assessio Sverige AB also develops domestic tests. Some examples are the Erica Method, a method for child diagnostic purposes, a new application of Karen Machover´s Draw-A-Person test, and PAPAP, a method for in-depth exploration of the aphasia syndrome.

Industrial and organisational psychology

A growing part of Assessio Sverige AB's business is devoted to the development of psychological tests for use in the human resource area. Psychologists and other human resource professionals turn to us for Swedish versions of tests as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator©, FIRO-B™ 16 PF, Gordon Personality Profile and Inventory, Hogan Personality Inventory and Hollands' Self-Directed Search.

Assessment of reading and writing skills

For many years, Assessio Sverige AB's tests for assessing reading and writing skills in children, as well as tools for detection of dyslexia, have been valuable instruments for teachers and special needs teachers. Together with Sweden's leading experts in the field of special education and reading and writing difficulties, we develop diagnostic materials for use in all age groups. A close co-operation and long relationships with schools all over the country, ensure a smooth standardisation process and results in user-friendly tests with high psychometric qualities.

BasIQ™- a new way of measuring intelligence

With the launching of BasIQ™, based on Prof. Jan-Eric Gustafsons research on the hierarchical structure of intelligence, we provide our customers with a new, time-efficient way of measuring intelligence. BasIQ™, developed by Prof. Bertil Mårdberg in collaboration with Assessio Sverige AB, uses new factor analysis techniques in order to generate a "pure" measure of general intelligence (g), as well as non correlated measures of spatial, verbal and numerical ability.

BasIQ™ is scored in a Windows based scoring program and the individual result is presented in a profile. A table gives the result in stanine points, percentiles and T-scores. The manual describes the theoretical foundation of BasIQ™ and summarises many years of validity studies supporting the underlying principles of BasIQ™.
